Laser stimulation and uncaging system
The Laser Applied Stimulation and Uncaging (LASU) system enables combination
of electrophysiology, optogenetics, and uncaging for studying
advanced neuronal processes. LASU, which works with the
company’s SliceScope upright microscope, uses high-speed
laser diode technology combined with triggering electronics
and coupling optics. A choice of lasers for uncaging
or photoactivation, or a combination of
both, is available.

LED light engines
LumiBright Model 2400B-400-W and 2400B-500-W high-power white LED light engines
couple directly to liquid light guides and fiber bundles with no additional optics, delivering
up to 4000 lumens into the light guide. The 2400B-400-W has a 0.66 numerical aperture
(NA) and illuminates fiber bundles and light guides sized from 6.0 to 8.0 mm in diameter.
2400B-500-W, which produces up to 1500 lumens, has utility in endoscopy and microscopy
illumination applications with a 0.60 NA for light guides that are 3.0 to 5.0 mm in diameter.

Dual-wavelength laser
The Chameleon Discovery dual-wavelength laser
combines continuous tunability from 680 to 1300
nm, 1. 5 W of output power (at 1040 nm), and 100 fs
pulsewidth for multiphoton microscopy applications. Excitation
of all popular fluorophores, including eGFP, YFP, and all the red-shifted
proteins, is possible. Secondary output at 1040 nm provides high power, short pulses
(160 fs), and optimum beam parameters for simultaneous, multiwavelength excitation of
multiple probes and/or photoactivation of opsins for optogenetics applications.
